Dojo
Check In Procedure
Upon entering the dojo, every student must check in at the desk.
Each student will be assigned a member number which they will
enter into the keypad. It is very important that students check
in and enter their number. This allows us to keep accurate attendance
records for testing purposes.
Students will then
proceed to the locker rooms to either dress for class or put all
personal belonging away while they attend class. No shoes, socks,
coats, etc. are to be left in the waiting area.
Students must arrive
for class ON TIME. It is suggested that you arrive 10 to 15 minutes
prior to your scheduled class time. This will allow time for check
in and dressing. Students are to wait in the reception area until
the dojo floor is cleared from the previous class.
There will be seating
for the parents and others to watch class inside of the training
area. This is a quiet seating area and the rules are strictly
enforced. Those who wish to chat, have a drink, or watch other
family members may make themselves comfortable in the reception
area. We have a homework room where the children can study or
amuse themselves in the reception area. Please be advised you
are responsible for your children at all times.

Dojo Etiquette - Members, Parents, and
Spectator RULES and BEHAVIOR guidelines for our program
- When there is bad weather, please call the dojo to find out
if there are classes.
- Please maintain quiet in the spectator area by the dojo training
area. Noise distracts the instructors and students and prevents
maximum benefit from the classes.
- Parents are responsible for their children at all times when
at the facility. Leaving students unattended during class time
under direction of a certified club instructor is permissible.
Spectators and non-member children must be accompanied by an adult
at all times. Children in the homework room must have a parent

Syllabus/Testing
Requirements
The syllabus lists all requirements the students must perform
for each belt advancement. The students usually test on a 3 to
4 month interval, depending on their progress during this period.
The students will receive a letter in the mail regarding their
eligibility to test. This letter has a section that must be filled
in by their parents and teachers and returned one week prior to
testing.
Please check
the bulletin board or website for testing dates and times. On
these evenings there will be no regular karate classes scheduled

Other
Things You Will Need to Get StartedVideo/DVD
This video shows the first kata students will be taught (Taikyoku
Shodan). This enables the students to practice at home to reinforce
the instruction they receive in class. It also shows some basics
which each student will be required to know in order to advance
to the next belt color. At each subsequent test, students will
receive a video of their next kata.
Children's
Book (Facing the Double Edge Sword)
Our children's program is based on the principle of resolving
conflict without resorting to violence. This book correlates well
with our program and the children are required to read one chapter
prior to each test. Chapter 10 should be read by new students.
Subsequent chapters for each belt level are found in the Syllabus,
which is also enclosed. The students will discuss each chapter
with the instructors at their belt test.
Adult
Book (Kyusho Secrets, Zanshin, options)
This book correlates well with our program and the students are
required to read one chapter prior to each test. Refer to the
syllabus for reading assignments for new students. The students
will discuss each chapter with the instructors at their belt test.
